Silver White Cake

 Ingredients:

2 2/3 cups sifted cake flour
1 7/8 cups sugar
4½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cups soft shortening
1¼ cups milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
5 egg whites (2/3 cup unbeaten)

 Directions:

Sift dry ingredients together and then add shortening, milk and vanilla. Beat 2 minutes then add egg whites and beat 2 minutes longer. Bake at 350 degrees in two 9" layer pans or a 13" x 9" oblong pan. Time 30 to 35 minutes for layers or 35 to 45 minutes for square or oblong pan.
