These recipes listed below have been copied from an old recipe book which was prepared by a local church in the Pocono Mountains area of Pennsylvania and sold as a fund raiser. The original book is a hand-me-down and well worn. One hand-crafted wooden cover is missing and some of the pages have fallen out. The ingredients, for the most part, are fairly accurate, but the directions leave something to be desired. In some instances I have paraphrased the directions to made the recipes more usable, but --no guarantees--. There is no date, however, I personally know some of the contributors. My best guess on the publication of the book is late 40's or early 50's. Probably many of the contributors have passed on by now, but they have left us a legacy of good things to eat. The recipes originated in eastern Pennsylvania and depict primarily Pennsylvania Dutch (German) cooking.
You are encouraged to print out as many of these recipes as you like and try them. I would like to get a response concerning how well they turned out for you and how delicious they are. I also welcome modifications to any of them as to quantities, directions, cooking time, ingredients, etc.
