Orange Angel Food Cake

 Ingredients:

4 eggs, separated
1½ cups sugar
½ cup orange juice
½ teaspoon baking powder
1½ cups sifted flour
1 cup sugar
2 egg whites
2 oranges, juice and grated rind

 Directions:

Beat egg yolks until creamy. Add sugar gradually, then orange juice. Mix well. Then mix baking powder into flour. Sift flour and baking powder 4 times before adding to above mixture. Beat all up well, before you mix in the 4 stiffly beaten egg whites. Optional-- If you desire you can add grated rind of orange and mix in with the egg yolks and sugar. Place batter in cold oven and set for 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Optional icing:
Boil sugar, grated orange rind and juice until is spins a thread. Beat whites of 2 eggs stiff. Pour hot juice over slowly, beating all the while.
