Nut Cake

 Ingredients:

4 eggs
¾ cup shortening
1½ cups sugar
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup nuts
3 teaspoons baking powder

 Directions:

Separate eggs. Cream yolks, shortening and sugar together. Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add this mixture alternately with milk to egg-shortening mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff, add vanilla. Fold into dough. Turn into greased pans. Bake layer cakes 400 degrees for 25 minutes.
