Directions: Combine first five ingredients in heavy saucepan. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Cook without stirring until mixture forms soft ball in cold water. Remove from heat, add butter and cool, still without stirring, until hand can be rested comfortably on bottom of pan. Add vanilla and nuts and beat until mixture begins to hold its shape. Turn onto buttered platter and cool in dry cool place. Cut into 24 pieces. |
