Happy Birthday Cake

 Ingredients:

2½ cups cake flour (sifted before measuring)
1 2/3 cups sugar
2/3 cup shortening
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
3½ teaspoons baking powder
½ cup milk
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

 Directions:

Blend dry ingredients, shortening and milk by hand or in mixer two minutes. Add baking powder, ½ cup milk, eggs and vanilla, blend by hand or in mixer for two minutes. Pour into two well-greased layer pans (9" x 12"). Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 30 to 35 minutes.
