Crown Cake

 Ingredients:

2 cups sifted cake flour
1 1/3 cups sugar
½ cup shortening
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
3 teaspoons baking powder
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 teaspoon vanilla

 Directions:

Measure into mixing bowl cake flour, sugar, shortening, salt and 2/3 cup of milk. Blend these by hand or mixer for 2 minutes. Stir in baking powder, remainder of milk, eggs and vanilla. Blend by hand or mixer 2 minutes. Pour into 9" ring mold. Bake in moderate oven 375 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
