Cranberry Nut Bread

 Ingredients:

2 cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
1½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup sugar
1 orange (juice and grated rind)
2 tablespoons melted shortening
boiling water
1 egg
1 cup chopped English walnuts
1 cup raw cranberries

 Directions:

Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and sugar. Set aside. Mix grated rind of orange, juice of orange, melted shortening and enough boiling water to make ¾ cup. Add this mixture and egg (beaten) to dry ingredients. Add English walnuts and raw cranberries (do not grind). Mix well and pour in greased lined (brown paper) bread pan. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees.
