Chocolate Indians or Brownies

 Ingredients:

½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnuts, cut in pieces
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla

 Directions:

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add beaten eggs, salt and flour. Add nuts, melted chocolate and vanilla. Mix well. Spread evenly in a greased shallow pan, having mixture ¼" deep. Bake in a moderate oven at 350 degrees 20 to 25 minutes. While hot, cut into squares.
