Cherry and Nut Cake

 Ingredients:

½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
¼ cup cherry juice
½ cup milk
½ cup cherries (cut fine)
½ cup chopped nuts

 Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with cherry juice and milk mixture. Last add cherries and nuts and beat about 2 minutes. Bake in two 9" layer pans for about 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees.
