Brownies

 Ingredients:

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2½ squares unsweetened chocolate
1/3 cup shortening
½ cup flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 cup nut meats, coarsly chopped

 Directions:

Beat eggs until thick and frothy; beat in sugar. Melt chocolate and shortening over hot water, add to first mixture. Add flour sifted with baking powder and salt. Add vanilla and nuts. Spread thinly in greased baking pan. Bake in moderate oven at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut in two inch squares. Makes two dozen.
