Breakfast Coffee Cake

 Ingredients:

2 cups flour
¼ cup sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
apples ( blueberries, cherries or peaches can be substituted for apples)
¼ cup sugar
1 tablespoon flour

 Directions:

Sift flour, measure and sift with baking powder, salt and sugar. Add shortening. Work as for pie crust, then add egg and sufficient milk to form a soft buscuit dough. Press in 8" to 10" pieplate, line with apples cut in 1/8" pieces, spread with flour and sugar mixture. When nearly baked sprinkle top with sugar, flour, butter and cinnamon crumb mixture.
